Summary |
This is the first catalog of the 19th century that the Charleston Library Society owns in its collections. ¡Books are classified into 15 subject classes and a section called 'Books Omitted' for those volumes not included at the time of printing the catalog. ¡Under each subject class, the books are subclassed by format and listed alphabetically by author or title. ¡Entries are very abbreviated with no full titles, dates or publication information; the number of volumes are listed, if the entry is for a set. ¡The Library Society owns three copies of the 1811 book catalog. ¡This copy ¡belonged to Thomas Bee Jr., and has additional titles and notes written in on blank pages.
