Summary |
Award-winning filmmaker Marina Willer creates an impressionistic visual essay as she traces her family's journey as one of only twelve Jewish families to survive the Nazi occupation of Prague during World War II. Marina, the granddaughter of noted Czech chemist Vilem Willer, the patriarch of the family during the war, is guided by the memories of her father, Vilem's son Alfred Willer, who was an adolescent at the time. She reconstructs the life of her father and his family beginning from his birth in Czechoslovakia in 1931, up through the Nazi invasion of the country in 1939, the family's move to Prague, and their struggle to live during the Nazi occupation over the course of World War II. Official Selection at the **San Francisco Jewish Film Festival**. |
