Summary Alexander Whitaker was an early settler at Jamestown and a popular religious leader within the community. He established two churches in the area and was often called "the Apostle of Virginia."â„“Good Newes from Virginia is his most famous sermon and was reprinted and circulated in London in 1613. Whitaker was responsible for converting and baptizing Pocahontas.
