This drawing shows the execution of the eight surviving members of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 by hanging, drawing and quartering—the standard execution of the day for those found guilty of High Treason. Guy Fawkes managed to end his suffering earlier than the others, jumping to his death while being hanged and breaking his neck. |
