Summary |
The feature book, written by Wendy Tokuda and Richard Hall, and illustrated by Hanako Wakiyama, is based on the journey of a California humpback whale. It follows the amazing journey of "wrong-way" Humphrey as he finds his way back to the sea with the help of some friends. Read by Jane Pauley, the story moves Le Var to spend a day at sea where he uncovers some of the mysteries of the majestic whale. Naturalist Cindy Belt takes us whale watching as she tells us about whale behavior. Then, Greg Early, rescue lead, tells about 3 young pilot whales that were beached and eventually rescued. Includes film clips of the real Humphrey the lost whale, who swam up the Sacramento river in California, and film clips of whales and the sounds they make. |
