The 1960 edition of the Promenade Yearbook from Maryville College of the Sacred Heart. The books were named to signify both the strolls around the campus and the "promenade" from freshman year to graduation. The name can be accredited to students Mary Helen Schaeffer(1940) and Margaret Boland (1940). Within this edition, the faculty and staff, graduating class, and the lower classes are photographed and labeled, as well as various clubs and sports teams from Maryville College in 1960. The 1960-1961 school year was a year of preparing the college for a move to a new location in west St. Louis County in the fall of 1961. ¡Although the "Acknowledgement" on page 94 states that the 1960 edition of the Promenade may be the last yearbook published from the old Maryville, a 1961 edition was published. ¡ The 1960 Promenade was dedicated first to the parents of the Alumnae, "for it was they who with foresight and rare courage made Maryville a College." ¡ The second dedication was to the students' parents. "Because of their vision and sacrifice we are Children of the Sacred Heart." ¡ The third dedication was to the students of 1960. ¡"The love and warmth of the old Maryville will be a treasure of fond memories that transcend mere change of place, for they are characteristics of the Sacred Heart, and though we shall leave these old halls, what they have stood for will remain with us."
