"During the month of September, 1938, the Bristol Library Unit of the W.P.A. Statewide Library Project commenced the task of indexing the Bristol Press from the date of its first publication, Thursday, March 9, 1871. During the first year of publication, the Press printed a series of historical sketches by the late Milo L. Norton, the existence of which had been forgotten until it was brought to light by the workers on the local project. These sketches constitute a valuable addition to Bristol's historical information for Mr. Norton had perhaps more general information regarding the history of Bristol than any other resident of this community.
