| Summary |
This painting shows the anointing of Louis XV as King of France in 1722 at the age of 12. Louis was born on February 15, 1710 at the Palace of Versailles and was a somewhat weak and sickly child. His mother, father and brother all died of small pox in 1712, leaving him heir to the throne of France at the age of five, when his great-grandfather, King Louis XIV, died in 1715. |
