Summary |
This map shows Philadelphia's Independence Hall. It is the center of Philadelphia's historic district. It was in this building that the United States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were both constructed. Although those documents came after Penn's time, his political philosophy was a main source of inspiration for the founding fathers. Penn's insistence on the ideas ofℓreligious tolerance and the rights of the individual were cornerstones of Pennsylvanian lifeℓthat were carried over on a national scale, as did his tolerance of minorities and the concept of an amendable constitution. |
