Summary Stella: After a brief relationship with a young doctor, Stella, a tough and fiercely independent woman, discovers she's pregnant. Too proud to accept the doctor's marriage proposal, Stella raises her daughter Jenny alone, and through the years the two share a very special relationship until Stella realizes she cannot provide Jenny with the advantages her wealthy father can.
