Note Originally published in German in 1933 by Paul Zsolnay Verlag as Florian Das Pferd des Kaisers.
Summary Florian spends his days playing in the meadow with his best friend Bosco the fox terrier. A pure white Lipizzan horse with perfect instincts, Florian is accepted into the prestigious Spanish Riding School, where he captivates audiences in the arena. Even the emperor notices him, and Florian is soon made lead horse in the royal carriage. He and Bosco travel the countryside and parade through the streets for adoring crowds. But Florian's life is changed forever when a new emperor takes the throne. The old traditions are left behind and the royal carriage is put away, replaced by the automobile. No longer the Emperor's Stallion, can Florian find a place in the modern world?
