Summary |
While the Bible contains a great deal of historical writings, the scriptures do not always give a full picture of the historical events that were occurring in the greater Middle East. This book gives a general overview of the history of the region. Sometimes relying on the Old Testament account and sometimes basing his narrative on outside sources, the author describes the history of the Hebrew people from the time of Moses, through the establishment of the Israelite monarchy and into the era of the prophets. Descriptions of the Greek and Maccabean Periods—which fall outside the narrative of the Bible—are also included. |
