Summary |
In 1668, a decidedly QuakerℓPenn was imprisoned for writing a treatise that called the Catholic church "the Whore of Babylon." He was placed in solitary until he recanted his blasphemous statements. After Penn consistently refused to do so, he was given writing supplies so that he could write down his apology. Instead, Penn wrote No Cross, No Crown. It contains 68 quotes from various writers and analysts whose wordsℓPenn had previously memorized. He paired these quotes with historical analysis. Not surprisingly, his treatiseℓwas not received fondly. He was released eight months later. |
