Summary |
Does the development of civil society lead to favorable conditions for the rise of democratic structures and progressive gender relations? While traditional approaches would answer in the affirmative, this book is more ambivalent. Focusing on women's organizations in authoritarian and hybrid regimes, it covers the full spectrum from civil society's important role in the overcoming of power relations to the reinforcement of government structures or the distribution of antifeminist ideas. |
