Summary
When Hana, a benevolent yet exhausted nurse, begins caring for an English soldier so horrendously burned he's unidentifiable, the fates of three very different individuals become inextricably bound together as they try to solve the mystery of the English patient's identity. Set in an Italian monastery amongst a country reduced to rubble by the Second World War, this story eloquently illustrates the physical and psychological fallout of war.
