Summary |
The author of this tale hopes to interest children in the habits of bees by telling the story of Buz. Buz's first memory "was having the cramp very badly in two of her left legs...for she was so carefully packed up in her cell that it was impossible to move." Buz's adventures begin in full after she manages to "bite and push" her way out of the cell. Unfortunately, her first experience is getting her face trod on by another bee. Buz's story continues from there and includes a dispute with a butterfly, a near miss with a cobweb and a few "idle hours." This little children's tale provides a delightful window into both the habits of bees and the nature of late 19th-century children's stories. |
