Spanish: ℓEntre el valioso fondo de dibujos de la Biblioteca Nacional destaca por su calidad la representación de dibujo italiano que abarca del siglo XVI al XIX. Este dibujo arquitectónico es representativo de la repercusión alcanzada por las obras de los grandes tratadistas de arquitectura italianos sobre los artistas de su propio país y, en general, sobre todos los artistas europeos.ℓ En este grupo de cuarenta y cinco dibujos de arquitectura de G. B. Montano conservado en la Biblioteca Nacional es patente la influencia de Vignola y de Palladio, como ha estudiado Delfín Rodríguez. El dibujo está concebido como un frontispicio para el tratado que Montano no llegó a publicar, en el que se interpretan de forma libre los órdenes arquitectónicos propuestos por los tratadistas anteriormente mencionados, junto con algunas invenciones del autor de carácter ornamental, basadas en la otra gran fuente del momento, los restos de la Antigüedad clásica. En el dibujo, que apunta formas barrocas, Montano se autorretrata con las alegorías de la Arquitectura y la Geometría a cada lado, y portando el compás de arquitecto y la regla. Se considera a Montano buen maquetista en el trabajo de la madera, tratadista y dibujante de arquitecturas, algunas de las cuales fueron posteriormente grabadas y publicadas por sus discípulos.ℓ Existe un amplio fondo de dibujos de este artista diseminados en diferentes bibliotecas europeas. Montano contribuyó a la creación de la prestigiosa Accademia di San Luca de Roma, de la que formó parte. ℓEnglish: ℓAmong the valuable collection of drawings of the National Library of Spain, the collection of Italian works from the 16th to 19th centuries is especially outstanding. This architectural drawing is representative of the impact reached by the works of the great authors of Italian architecture on the artists of their own country and, in general, on all European artists. In this group of forty-five architectural drawings of G. B. Montano kept by the National Library, the influence of Vignola and Palladio is clear, as studied by Delfin Rodriguez. The drawing is intended as a frontispiece to the treaty that Montano did not publish, where architectural orders, as proposed by authors previously mentioned, are freely interpreted, along with some ornamental inventions of the author, based on the other great point source of that time: the remains of classical antiquity. In the drawing, pointing at Baroque forms, Montano portrays himself with the allegories of Architecture and Geometry on each side and bears a compass and a ruler. Montano is considered a good modeler in woodworking, essayist and draftsman of architectures, some of which were later engraved and published by his disciples. There is a large collection of drawings by this artist scattered in different European libraries. G. B. Montano contributed to the creation and participated in the works of the prestigious Accademia di San Luca in Rome.ℓ |
