"More than two decades after dropping out of school, Alice Washington rebounds from a divorce by enrolling in Smith College to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. A housing shortage places her with a much younger roommate, rebellious piano student Zoe, who thinks she has enough difficulty in her life already.
