Summary |
Between May 1916 and October 1917, Chaplin produced a series of twelve films for the Mutual Film corporation which are considered his finest short comedies. This volume presents four films in which Chaplin plays a variety of comedic characters. One A.M. (4th Mutual film): Charlie arrives home inebriated and tries to get into his house, upstairs, and to bed. The pawn shop (6th Mutual film): Charlie finds an entry level job as a pawnbroker's helper. The floorwalker (1st Mutual film): Charlie, a lowly clerk in a New York department store, must work for his embezzling manager. The rink (8th Mutual film): Charlie, a waiter, adjourns to the roller skating rink. |
