Summary |
The Iolani palace in Oahu, Hawaii is the only official royal residence in the United States. Both King Kalākaua and Queen Liliʻuokalani resided in the palace until the Hawaiian monarchy was overthrown in 1893, at which time the palace was used as the capital building of the provisional government and later by the State of Hawaii. Since 1978, the palace has been a public museum. |
