Bibliography Includes bibliographical references.
Summary "Study Guide to Psychiatry is a companion to, but not a replacement for reading, The American Psychiatric Association Publishing Textbook of Psychiatry, Seventh Edition. This self-examination guide has special meaning to the contributors, mentors, and editors, as it was written during an extraordinary time in the world, and especially in the United States. Many of the physicians involved in the project were redeployed to care for critically ill patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Nevertheless, they persevered to carefully read the Textbook in order to create this self-examination guide. All of the contributors were psychiatric residents or fellows at the time of writing the questions. This is a unique book, as it was written entirely by residents who were mentored by faculty at each institution. We hope that using this guide will prepare readers to educate themselves in the assessment and treatment of patients with psychiatric disorders. --- This study guide is organized around the chapters in the Textbook. As you work through the self-examination questions, let them guide you to focus on the chapter content in the Textbook as a path to your self-education. Some questions will seem obvious or easy, whereas others will be quite difficult. In the 400-plus questions included in this study guide, we have endeavored to use the style of question writing found in certification examinations; however, this is not a board preparation book. For each question or vignette, we provide explanations for both the correct and the incorrect options." [Preface]
