"The purpose of this book is to provide a guide for the systematic study of a personality--especially one's own. Self-understanding is perhaps most difficult in the area of interpersonal relations, and it is there that many people feel most puzzled about themselves. Hence, Part I deals with some of the factors and principles involved in interpersonal relations. In Part II there is a discussion of the purposes of self-study; of the sources of information, concepts, and categories useful in the study of personality; and of suggestions for organizing such a study. This is followed by a series of carefully outlined projects which will help the reader develop greater insight into the origins, development, and organization of his own personality.
