The type is Monotype Bembo and Bembo Italic, with Alfred Fairbanks' Condensed Italic & John Peters' Castellar. It was composed & cast at the type foundry of Michael and Winifred Bixler, Boston; with considerable hand composition being done entirely by Arthur Larson at the Press. The calligraphy on the title page is the work of G. G. Laurens, as is the versal 'A' of the first chapter opening, which was engraved & hand-colored by Barry Moser. The binding is from the workshop of Gray Parrot, Easthampton, Massachusetts. Harold McGrath printed the text & blocks on Pulegium, a paper specially made for Pennyroyal by the Strathmore Paper Company. The printing was completed on New Year's Eve, 1981"--Colophon.
