This symbolic postcard was printed as a souvenir for theâ„“Panama Pacific International Exposition of 1915. This World's Fair was initially intended to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal but became San Francisco's opportunity to showcase its recovery from the devastatingâ„“earthquake of 1906. This postcard shows the city's new buildings with earthquake ruins in the foreground and an American flag billowing in the center. The bottom portion of the card reveals some of the buildings from the Exposition.
