Summary This statue, sculpted by Henry Kitson and later photographed, is thought to depict Captain John Paker. Parker was in command of the civilian militia that assembled on Lexington Green early in the morning of April 19, 1775. This statue commemorates the conflict there, and the ability of the civilians to assemble quickly, earning them the nickname "Minute Men."
