Summary The quintessential silent vampire film, crafted by legendary German director F. W. Murnau. Rather than depicting Dracula as a shape-shifting monster or debonair gentleman, Murnau's Graf Orlok is a nightmarish, spidery creature of bulbous head and taloned claws, perhaps the most genuinely disturbing incarnation of vampirism yet envisioned.

Note Special features include: The language of shadows (2007), a 52-minute documentary on F.W. Murnau's early career and the making of Nosferatu ; Lengthy excerpts from other films by F.W. Murnau: Journey into the night (1920), The Haunted castle (1921), Phantom (1922), The finances of the Grand Duke (1924), The last laugh (1924), Tartuffe (1925), Faust (1926), and Tabu (1931) ; image gallery.
