Inventor Shurik (Demyanenko) has constructed in his regular Moscow apartment a ... time machine. Accidentally it sends Ivan the Terrible's namesake and double, the apartment house manager Bunsha (Yakovlev) and a thief, George Miloslavsky (Kuravlyov) to the Tsar's palace, and the Tsar finds himself in our time.
