Summary |
The abyss : When an American nuclear submarine crashes, the United States believes the Russians to be responsible. They enlist the help of a team of underwater drilling platform workers who are to help the deployed Navy SEALS locate the crash site. As they get closer to their destination, friction between the drilling workers and the SEALS increases. When some workers report seeing UFO's underwater, the SEALS grow increasingly suspicious and suspect a Russian mini-sub. After a series of near-fatal accidents, the workers find that they are the only people who are capable of stopping World War III. They discover a strange and mysterious force living in the deep. |
Cloverfield : When a group of friends at a party in New York discover that a monster is attacking the city, they use a video camera to document the invasion and the destruction that follows. |
Independence Day : On July 2nd, communications systems worldwide are sent into chaos by a strange atmospheric interference. At first thought to be meteors, the United States military suspect that a number of enormous alien spacecraft are on a collision course with Earth. After attempts to communicate with the aliens go nowhere, David Levinson, an ex-scientist turned cable technician, discovers that the aliens are going to attack major points around the globe in less than a day. On July 3rd, the aliens all but obliterate New York, Los Angeles, and Washington. Survivors set out towards Area 51, a strange government testing ground where it is rumored the military has a captured alien spacecraft of their own. The survivors devise a plan to fight back against the killing aliens, and July 4th becomes the day humanity will fight for its freedom. |
Signs : In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a five-hundred-foot crop circle is found on the farm of Graham Hess, the town's reverend. The circles cause a media frenzy and test Hess's faith as he journeys to find out the truth behind the crop circles. |
Stargate : A secret military mission takes a group of men through an Egyptian artifact known as the Stargate to an ancient civilization on the other side of the universe. Once there, they must battle the astoundingly powerful sun god, Ra, before they can find their way home. |
