Summary |
"Birth in focus" offers a chance to see birth made real. Home birth, water birth, breech birth, twin birth, Caesarean birth - all are shown in 'photo stories', with the birth described by both the mother and her midwife, and sometimes also her partner or a child who was present. The clear, frank photographs, taken as the birth process unfolds, are an inspiration to birthing women who may never have had the opportunity to see birth close up, and make the book an excellent educational tool. A final chapter sets the stories in a theoretical context, exploring the model of midwifery care that supported these women as they gave birth. |
