Bibliography Includes bibliographical references (pages 393-405).
Summary "Over a quarter of a century ago Pavlov began, "after persistent deliberation," to study the activity of the higher parts of the brain by physiological methods, mainly through the use of his conditioned reflexes. This book shows the historical development of the subject from the very beginning to the present, and it contains most of the important facts which he has discovered. As the subject is a new and somewhat difficult one, the many repetitions in varying form will probably not be unwelcome to the reader. Because the facts and methods described in the following pages cover most of Pavlov's important work on conditioned reflexes, it seemed worth while to us to make the translation from the original Russian"--Preface.
