Summary |
The Annals of Salem is a detailed account of the happenings of Salem's first settlement, including information about the 19 accused and executed witches during the Salem Witch Trials. These comprehensive records describe Salem from its founding, through the Trials, through the American Revolutionary War to the 1780s. The Annals of Salem covers in an unbiased manner the accusations, sentencing and executions of those killed during the Witch Trials, starting on page 303. These records also include information about outside sources that impacted the Trials, such as judges in the Trials, information about the families of the accused and rulers in England around the time of the Trials. Beyond the Trials, however, this book provides a descriptive background on Salem and Colonial America. This context is necessary to develop a better understanding of the Trials and influencing factors surrounding them. |
