Summary |
The eldest son of El Salvadorian immigrants, Casey Diaz was brought to Los Angeles at the age of two. An abusive family life soon propels Casey out of his tiny apartment and into the world of street gangs. After a tough initiation, the Rockwood Street Locos welcome eleven-year-old Casey as their newest recruit. During the next few years, Casey sets out to prove he is willing to do anything to be number one. But years of chasing rival gang members and causing chaos catch up with Casey and he is hunted down, cornered, and arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department. Casey is tried as an adult - as a sixteen-year-old - for second-degree murder and fifty-two counts of robbery. The judge sentences Casey to more than twelve years in solitary confinement at California's toughest prison. He knows his life is over. Yet, when an unassuming, elderly woman pays Casey a visit, a whole new world of possibilities begins to unfold. Casey scoffs as she quietly insists God is going to use him. As the days in solitary wear on, he soon relizes Someone else is calling the shots. Casey's life story is a powerful demonstration of God's grace and His desire to reach even the worst of sinners - no matter where they are or what they have done. |
