Summary The Sons of the Viscount and the Daughters of the Earl is an example of a so-called fashionable novel, a genre of 19th-century English literatureℓthat became popular during the Regency and later flourished in the Victorian era, when they were also referred toℓas silver fork novels. Many of these novels focused on the lives of the upper classes and were often indiscreet, containing only thinly veiled references to real people. This novel by A Lady was actually penned by Selina Davenport, who wrote 11 novels between 1813 and 1834.
