Summary |
While this book was printed in the 19th century, its contents consist of the complete text of a 17th-century work. A Literal Explanation of the Acts of the Holy Apostles was originally written in Latin by C. M. Du Veil, a French Jew who converted to Catholicism and then became associated with the Huguenots. After fleeing France, he settled in Holland and then Britain, where he wrote several influential commentaries on various books of the Bible. Because of Du Veil's background, the reader of this commentary on Acts can view the book through the eyes of a convert from Judaism to Christianity—a point of view similar to that of the early Christians themselves. |
