Summary |
According to Father Ian Herring, "It would be analogous to consecrating a meat pie on the altar of God to ordain a woman..." This challenging and provocative documentary deals with one of the most controversial issues in the Christian community: the attitude of the Church towards the ordination of women as priests. The film follows a group of women lobbying for the right to be ordained into the Anglican priesthood. It covers the Special Synod in Sydney in 1987, convened to decide "can women be priests?", which failed to support the change by a mere four votes. Produced by Film Australia.
