Summary |
Peck's book is one of the few versions of Sherman's march told from the Southern perspective. He writes that "Although the people of the South suffered immensely in every portion of her territory during the late Civil War, so fearful were their disasters in the line of Sherman's grand march, that the year 1864 and the first part of 1865 stand prominent in the annals of their anguish." |
