| Summary |
This painting shows a scene from the Battle of Varna, which was the culmination of a crusade of the Polish and Hungarian armies against the Ottoman Turks. The battle was fought in November of 1444, led by Waladyslaw III, King of Poland and Hungary against the forces of Sultan Murad II. The Ottomans had a decisive victory, and the King of Poland was slain by the Sultan. |
