Summary In 1962, Chow Mo-wan, chief editor of a local Hong Kong daily newspaper, and Su Li-zhen, a secretary in an export firm, move into neighboring apartments on the same day. Their encounters are formal and polite, until they discover that their spouses are having an affair. These two lonely people then discover a strong bond in each other, and recover the intimacy they have lost in their marriages.
