It exemplifies the combination of planning, courage, error and pure chance by which great events are often decided." - title screens. In June of 1942, quite possibly the most important naval encounter of WWII took place in the middle of the Pacific, at Midway Island. While fictional, the film uses a great deal of documentary footage of the actual battle, featuring hundreds of ships of all sizes, from patrol boats to battleships and multiple carriers with hundreds of aircraft. US forces get wind of an imminent Japanese action and tries to sort fact from fiction, while the Japanese plan and execute their own attack plans. An epic on a grand scale that incorporates a huge cast, the film emphasizes the sheer scale of battles fought in the Pacific theater, which even when victorious, cost hundreds of lives. 521 8 MPAA Rating: Rated PG, some material my not be suitable for children. 538 DVD; Region 1, NTSC; Dolby Digital 1.1 mono.; anamorphic widescreen presentation, aspect ratio 2.35:1. 546 In English, dubbed Spanish, or dubbed French with optional subtitles in English; closed-captioned. 650 0 Midway, Battle of, 1942|vDrama. 650 0 World War, 1939-1945|xNaval operations, American|vDrama. 655 7 War films.|2lcgft 655 7 Historical films.|2lcgft 655 7 Action and adventure films.|2lcgft 655 7 Feature films.|2lcgft 655 7 Fiction films.|2lcgft 655 7 Video recordings for the hearing impaired.|2lcgft 700 1 Mirisch, Walter.|4pro 700 1 Sanford, Donald S.|4aus 700 1 Smight, Jack.|4drt 700 1 Heston, Charlton.|4act 700 1 Fonda, Henry,|d1905-1982.|4act 700 1 Coburn, James.|4act 700 1 Ford, Glenn,|d1916-2006.|4act 700 1 Holbrook, Hal.|4act 700 1 Mitchum, Robert.|4act 700 1 Robertson, Cliff,|d1923-2011.|4act 700 1 Wagner, Robert,|d1930-|4act 700 1 Webber, Robert,|d1924-1989.|4act 700 1 Nelson, Ed,|d1928-2014.|4act 700 1 Shigeta, James.|4act 700 1 Kokubo, Christina,|d1950-2007.|4act 700 1 Markham, Monte.|4act 700 1 McGuire, Biff,|d1926-2021.|4act 700 1 George, Christopher,|d1929-1983.|4act 700 1 Dobson, Kevin,|d1943-2020.|4act 700 1 Corbett, Glenn,|d1933-1993.|4act 700 1 Walcott, Gregory,|d1928-2015.|4act 700 1 Albert, Edward,|d1951-2006.|4act 700 1 Morita, Pat,|d1932-2005.|4act 700 1 Fujioka, John.|4act 700 1 Ishimoto, Dale.|4act 700 1 Coleman, Dabney,|d1932-|4act 700 1 Estrada, Erik,|d1949-|4act 700 1 Pennell, Ken.|4act 700 1 Kasatsu, Clyde.|4act 700 1 Allen, Phillip R.|4act 700 1 Selleck, Tom,|d1945-|4act 700 1 Shimono, Sab.|4act 700 1 Yama, Conrad.|4act 700 1 Ito, Robert.|4act 700 1 Shimoda, Yuki.|4act 700 1 Sakai, Seth,|d1932-2007.|4act 700 1 Grayson, Kurt.|4act 700 1 Wise, Alfie.|4act 700 1 Carroll, Beeson.|4act 700 1 Perry, John Bennett,|d1941-|4act 700 1 Kanaly, Steve.|4act 700 1 Niven, Kip.|4act 700 1 Rucker, Dennis.|4act 700 1 Richardson, Michael.|4act 700 1 Ingersoll, James.|4act 710 2 Mirisch Corporation. 710 2 Universal Pictures (Firm) 938 Baker and Taylor|bBTCP|nbe2003023330 994 92|bCKE
