Summary A later, illustrated publication of two of Lord Byron's "Turkish" tales. "The Corsair" tells the story of Conrad, an imprisoned pirate (corsair).ℓ"The Corsair" was so popular when it was originally published in 1814 that over ten thousand copies sold on its first day. "Lara" by contrast, was originally published anonymously, and tells the tale of the fictional Count Lara's return to Great Britain after years traveling abroad.
