Summary This collection of 100 four-part hymns was edited by British poet laureate Robert Bridges and musical antiquarian Harry Ellis Wooldridge. It is considered a bridge between the Victorian style of hymnody popular in the latter 19th century and the modern hymnody of the early 20th century. By reviving 16th- and 17th-century hymn tunes and songs, this book greatly influenced later hymnodists.
