Summary	Zachary still remembers his "real" parents and finds that adjusting to life as Marie and Tom's adopted son is sometimes a painful reality. Children in foster care and adopted children often suffer painful separations from their families for reasons that they may not understand. They are often very confused, angry, and sad. This comforting story describes what happens to Zachary the kitten who is taken from his home when his mother is no longer able to care for him. Children will follow Zachary as he first enters foster care and is subsequently adopted by a loving family of geese. Zachary's story will help foster and adopted children -- and the adults who care for them -- cope with their many losses and feel both happier about their present and more optimistic about their future.
