Summary In this delightful comedy, British prisoner of war Stephen "Hannibal" Brooks (Oliver Reed) is assigned to a Munich zoo to care for an elephant named Lucy. When the zoo is bombed by the Americans, Brooks is ordered to transport Lucy by train to a safer zoo in Innsbruck. But when the train is commandeered by German troops, the only way Brooks can get the feisty pachyderm to Austria...is on foot!
