Stettheimer was a New York original: a society lady who hosted an avant-garde salon in her Manhattan home, a bohemian and a flapper, a poet, a theater designer, and above all an influential painter with a sharp satirical wit. Stettheimer collaborated with Gertrude Stein and Virgil Thomson, befriended (and took French lessons from) Marcel Duchamp, and was a member of Alfred Stieglitz and Georgia O'Keeffe's artistic and intellectual circle. Beautifully illustrated with 150 color images, including the majority of the artist's extant paintings, as well as drawings, theater designs, and ephemera, this volume also highlights Stettheimer's poetry and gives her a long overdue critical reassessment. 600 10 Stettheimer, Florine,|d1871-1944|vExhibitions. 600 10 Stettheimer, Florine,|d1871-1944|xCriticism and interpretation. 600 17 Stettheimer, Florine,|d1871-1944.|2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00227257 600 17 Stettheimer, Florine|d1871-1944.|2gnd|0(DE-588)119302888 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 Jewish women artists|zUnited States|y20th century |vExhibitions. 650 0 Jewish art|zUnited States|y20th century|vExhibitions. 650 0 Portrait painting|zUnited States|y20th century |vExhibitions. 650 0 Costume design|y20th century|vExhibitions. 650 0 Upper class in art|vExhibitions. 650 7 Costume design.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00880794 650 7 Jewish art.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01730479 650 7 Jewish women artists.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst00983088 650 7 Portrait painting.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01072167 650 7 Upper class in art.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01162153 650 7 Gemälde.|2gnd|0(DE-588)4122164-3 651 7 United States.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01204155 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01411635 655 7 Exhibition catalogs.|2fast|0(OCoLC)fst01424028 655 7 Exhibition catalogs.|2lcgft 655 7 Illustrated works.|2lcgft 700 1 Brown, Stephen,|d1955-|ewriter of added commentary. 700 1 Uhlyarik, Georgiana,|ewriter of added commentary. 700 1 Brown, Cecily,|d1969-|econtributor. 700 1 Hoffmann, Jens,|d1974-|einterviewer. 700 12 Stettheimer, Florine,|d1871-1944.|tWorks.|kSelections. 710 2 Jewish Museum (New York, N.Y.),|ehost institution. 710 2 Art Gallery of Ontario,|ehost institution. 994 C0|bGPI
