Summary |
This collection of short films profiles the "boys of summer" the five players who were the core of the Brooklyn Dodgers 1955 championship team -- shortstop Pee Wee Reese, first baseman Gil Hodges, center fielder Duke Snider, catcher Roy Campanella, and second baseman Jackie Robinson. After WWII, Dodger president Branch Rickey put together a team that would become one of the greatest and most beloved teams in baseball history, dominating the National League in the late 1940s and 50s. Rickey brought Jackie Robinson to the Dodgers, breaking the colorline and positioning them to become the first fully integrated team in the annals of American sports. Using a wealth of archival material and numerous interviews, these films celebrate the legend and lore of one of America's most beloved baseball teams. |
