Summary Proclamation by Isaac Brock, the administrator of Upper Canada, announcing the declaration of war by the United States against the United Kingdom, and requiring the residents of Upper Canada to be obedient to the lawful authorities, to forebear all communication with the enemy or persons residing in the United States and to manifest their loyalty through zealous cooperation with His Majesty's armed forces in defense of the province. He further enjoined all officers, civil and military, to be vigilant in the discharge of their duty, especially to prevent all communication with the enemy, and to cause all suspected traitors to be apprehended. Declared at York (the future site of Toronto) on July 6, 1812.
