Summary |
Perhaps more than any other of Henry VIII's six wives, Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn changed the course of English history. Both met tragic ends, one divorced in shame and the second accused of treason and witchcraft and executed. Henry's divorce opened the door for the Protestant Reformation to take hold in England and led to the formation of the Church of England. Anne Boleyn was extremely influential in her Protestant leanings, but was also the mother of the future monarch, Elizabeth I. |
