Summary We illustrate how an intersectional approach can be used in sociology and in the context of transition countries in this article. Biographies of women at the intersection of class and gender in the Czech Republic are examined. After the transition and changes in policies and institutions, women with low education find themselves in the secondary labour market and exposed to gender discrimination.
