Summary |
The history of Gloucester Cathedral dates back to 679, when an abbey dedicated to Saint Peter was built on the site. The structure today dates fromℓ1089–1499 and was built in the Norman and Gothic styles. Some of the Medieval stained glass still survives today. The most photographed section of the cathedral is the south portal, which was built in the English Perpendicular style.ℓ |
