| Summary |
While awaiting the day of the fifteenth birthday party, Miriam meets her internet boyfriend, Jean-Louis, who is set to accompany her. Her family believes he is the son of a French diplomat but when Miriam discovers he is Black, the politics of race and class in the Dominican Republic are brought to the surface, leading Miriam to create a string of lies and plunge into a crisis of identity. |
